The Maldives is paradise handed to any lucky honeymooner on a silver platter. Consisting of 1,190 tiny islands scattered through the Indian Ocean, it is commonly referred to as a line of broken pearls laid out on sapphire silk.

Each small island is surrounded by a coral reef and is usually home to just one hotel, giving honeymooners the feeling of being cast away.
