Real Life Honeymoon Feature - Italy

Mary-Kate and Giles love Italy so much, they tied the knot there before embarking on a romantic road trip to sample the culture and scenery that the country has to offer.

Took a trip around Italia!

WHEN?
June 2009, immediately after the wedding week

WHY?
We were married in Italy because we adore the culture, food and the scenery. All of our friends and family accompanied us to a little town of Cortona in the Tuscan hills and watched us make our vows in the Cathedral there. We stayed in a 5star villa with our close relatives for the week surrounding the wedding and after they flew home we started our decent through the country to the sunny south!

WHAT DID YOU DO?
Road trip through Italy; Tuscany; Roma; Mt Versuvious and Pompei; Positano (Almafi Coast) and Ischia. Staying in local towns along the way and spending the last week in 5star Spa Resort Mezzatore in Ischia…to relax from all the driving!

MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT?
…There were so many!! We decided it was sitting in an open air bar by the sea at the cliffs of the Positano at midnight during a local festival. The beach had been transformed into a fair for the children, there was a live band playing, all the locals were out in their best clothes and we were sipping vino and munching on the best fresh Pizza around… when the most wonderful display of fireworks were let off in the middle of the sea dramatically lighting the night sky… the packed beach front the was silent and the sky seemed to shine just for us!

Italy is such a warm hearted place, with differing cuisines and cultures everywhere you go. The people are delighted to help you and of course the weather is amazing – but above all Italy has some of the most fantastic historical cities and towns transporting you to different eras in time with each one. A truly romantic and magical country – Perfect for celebrating AMORE!!
