Real Life Honeymoon Feature - Malaysia

This happy couple said their vows at The City Rooms, Leicester in May this year, before jetting off to Malaysia.

Malaysia, first Kuala Lumpur and then onto Langkawi.

WHEN?

WHY?
We wanted somewhere where we could get everything – beach and city, nature and shopping, history and relaxation.

WHAT DID YOU DO?
In Kuala Lumpur, we made the most of our hotel, the Traders, with afternoon tea, free cocktails, great room service and the Skybar, a bar with a pool and amazing views. In Langkawi, we alternated between trips around the island and bobbing in the beautiful, warm, blue sea and relaxing on the sun loungers at the Sunset Beach Resort. We swam in the Temurun Waterfall, fed eagles in the mangroves and went to Dayang Bunting island to dip our feet in the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden.

MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT?
Sitting at the Oasis beach bar next to our hotel, drinking cocktails and watching the stunning sunset. Plus, sharing a Malaysian Feast in an outdoor restaurant that we had to ourselves, with candlelight, traditional music and a brook running by our table.

You get the best of both worlds: you can trek through rainforests
and relax on stunning beaches, but you’ve also got Kuala Lumpur with its air-conditioned malls, cool bars, clubs and delicious food. The service is great, people are friendly and the country is so welcoming – most people speak English and they even drive on the left!
