An overview to using PayPal
When you sign up for a SendUsPacking honeymoon gift list we ask you to provide the email you use with your personal PayPal account. This is so your friends and family can make their contributions directly to you.
The FREE PayPal ‘premier’ account:
We recommend that you upgrade your PayPal account to the free “premier” option so that people can make payments to you using credit or debit cards without them having to set up a PayPal account of their own.
The option to upgrade to premier is usually shown as follows on the PayPal website:
For more information on PayPal account types click here
PayPal fees:
As SendUsPacking do not collect any funds we do not charge you or your guests any commission, but please be aware that PayPal do charge a commission on each contribution. Their charges are subject to slight changes but at the moment are approximately 3.4% + £0.20 per transaction and this is deducted from the funds you receive.
Full details of their fees can be found on the PayPal website
Linking your PayPal account to your personal bank account:
- Login to your PayPal account as you normally would and find the link called “Profile”
- Click “Add or Remove Bank Account” then fill in the form with the bank account details that you’d like to collect your honeymoon funds in
- Click the button titled “Add bank account”
Managing the amounts you can receive and withdraw:
PayPal automatically sets a limit on how much money you can collect in your account and how much you can withdraw. For security reasons if you need to change these limits you need to ‘verify’ that the account is yours.
Look for this link on your account:
All you need to do is click the link called ‘notifications’ and complete each section of their online form.
Then set up ‘bank funding’ by submitting a direct debit form. Once PayPal receive this they will deposit 2 very small amounts of money in your account (not enough to retire on I’m afraid!).
When these 2 small amounts show in your bank account log back in to your PayPal account, click the Direct Debit link and enter what these 2 amounts were.
Getting the collected funds into your personal bank account
Once you start receiving money in to your PayPal account you can ask for the funds to be moved to your bank account. See the image below for this link:
Just enter the amount you’d like to have transferred – please note that this transfer can take up to five days to process.
We hope this little overview helps but further information can be found on the PayPal website.
