SendUsPacking is two years old

As SendUsPacking is celebrating it's second year in business, we have a look at how it all started.

When the company started
We did a ‘proof of concept’ launch in June 2005 and used it for our own wedding gift list – just to see if the idea worked. It was such a success with our friends and family that full development started on SendUsPacking in 2006 and the company was officially launched in July 2007.

How you got the idea
My husband and I got the idea when we were planning our own wedding. We didn’t want a traditional store-based wedding gift list and thought it would be better just to not have a list at all. However, all our friends and family wanted to buy us a wedding gift and started threatening to buy us things we didn’t want or need! We had no room in our house for extra bed linen, dinner sets or more wine glasses so we hit upon the idea of asking for help towards our honeymoon. We’d always wanted to go, luxury style, to the Maldives but didn’t think we could afford it.
With help from our wonderful friends and family we spent a blissful two weeks in luxury at the Angsana spa and resort in the Maldives. It was an unforgettable experience and was made all the more special by knowing who had helped us get there.

The key to its success so far
Customer service. By continually talking to our customers we are able to adapt to their needs and improve our product. We are renowned for positive feedback from past customers and have collected an enviable list of glowing testimonials.

How you have seen the market change over the past 2 years
Two years ago the happy couple were reticent about asking for money or contributions to their honeymoon. Now more and more couples and their guests understand that a memorable honeymoon is a treasured gift and so we are seeing huge increases in couples using honeymoon gift lists.

Briefly how and where do you see SUP going in the future
We fully expect to continue to grow in terms of revenue and customer base but we aren’t going to rest on our laurels. We are continually improving our product and therefore are planning to add more features in the coming months.
It is also highly likely that we will expand into other countries and travel markets.
