Background

The Angsana Spa takes its name from the exotic Angsana tree, a tall tropical rainforest tree noted for its golden, fragrant flowers which burst into bloom unexpectedly for only a day, then close and bloom again suddenly. Situated in the most breathtaking of settings ranging from seaside pavillions to lush garden terraces, the privacy and tranquility at the Angsana retreat allows you to rediscover your sensory pleasures. Underwater Angsana has exceptional fish and coral gardens.

Accommodation
Nothing has been spared to made your stay at the Angsana Resort and Spa an unforgettable experience. Dotted on the circumference of the round island, the 45 beachfront villas come with thatched roofs, private gardens, each with its own access to the beach and breathtaking views of the ocean.
The villas at Angsana are highly recommended and totally in keeping with the consistently high standards set.

Outside
The island and reef are two almost perfect circles, not often seen in the Maldives. Angsana has one of the very best house reefs in the country with coral in abundance from a couple of metres from the beach to the very edge when it drops dramatically straight down. Despite the coral bleaching in 1998 the snorkelling is excellent and fish are in abundance.
Angsana has one of the best beaches in the Maldives given it is a relatively small island. The resort has resisted the temptation to build walls and as a result the beach does suffer a significant amount of sand shift between the seasons. This has resulted in some erosion of the north east corner beside the lagoon bar. To help counteract this, sand bags are placed on the beach before alternating seasons.

Spa & Treatments
The Angsana Spa is a sanctuary for the inner reef. The eight luxurious treatment rooms, of which two are deluxe with outdoor jacuzzi and steam bath, offer an extensive range of holistic and non-clinical spa treatments and massages that use aromatherapy and the sense of touch to rejuvenate the spirit as well as physical being.

Shopping
The Angsana Galley is a lifestyle oriented boutique specialising in indigenous artifacts and handicrafts. Retailed are finely crafted Maldivian arts, crafts, jewellery and hand-made fabrics using traditional weaving methods.

Entertainment
The Velaavani Bar serves exotic refreshing cocktails and tasty snacks. Located in front of the lagoon and house reef, you might be fortunate enough to spot turtles and even dolphins. Indeed the word 'Velaavani' is decribed as a shallow bay where turtles gather
